Managing expectations-

You should not be appreciating the bare minimum in people. You can compliment someone, tell them you like things they do. But why are we taught to praise others for doing basic things. Like if you grew up with toxic parents for example, they teach you essentially humans don’t have to do anything good for you- don’t expect good from anyone almost all of the time. So when you do see it- which is actually more times than not, just something related to basic human decency. Expecting kindness and love from people should be known as a necessity, and not seem like some kind of overwhelming rare luxury.

I like the way potatoes still smell like dirt and soil- when you take them out the bag sometimes at the supermarket.
